CHANDIGARH 13th February, 2013:- In view of the overwhelming response and appreciation
received from the participants, students and the General Public for the first three
festivals, the 4th Panjab University Rose Festival will be held in the University
Campus between 15th to 17th February, 2013 as informed by Anil Thakur, Divisional
Engineer- cum-Organizer.
The festival will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, on
15.02.2013 at 10:00 a.m. The inauguration ceremony will be presided over by Prof. R. K.
Kohli, DUI. Students of Ankur School and G.S.V.M Sr. Sec School, Ratwara Sahib will
perform Classical Dance during the inauguration ceremony. Ganesh Vandana will be
performed by Sh. Rahul Gupta, a renowed Classical Dancer.
There will be various attractions for children in the Festival like fun games, swings,
camel rides etc. To spread awareness among the masses, pavilions will be set up by
Traffic Police and Blood Bank Society.
To explore the hidden talent of youth from Schools, Colleges, University and General
Public, the Organizing Committee has decided to arrange following competitions for
different age groups:
SINGING, MONO ACTING, QUIZ, LAUGHTER COMPETITION, KITE FLYING, RANGOLI, MIME, COLLAGE
MAKING, SLOGAN WRITING, FACE PAINTING, POETIC RECITATION, DEBATE, CREATIVE MEHANDI,
PAINTING, ROSE PRINCE/ROSE PRINCESS, FANCY DRESS & DANCING COMPETITION.
Apart from the above, Cultural Evenings will be organized as under:
15th February: Play by Indian Theatre Department
16th February: Fashion Show by Deptt. of Fashion & Lifestyle Tech. and Performance by
Rock Band White Harvest
17th February: Sufi renditions by Sufi Balbir
